Every year on October 16th, we come together for World Food Day, a time to reflect on global hunger and to celebrate the people who are working tirelessly to create a food-secure future. This year’s theme centers on the fundamental idea that food is a human right—a right that must be protected and upheld for every person, regardless of where they live.

Kinvia hosted a three-day event for delegates from six Indigenous partner communities to mark the official launch of the project under the Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Challenge, a pioneering initiative by Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) in partnership with Impact Canada. This gathering fostered rich dialogue between Nations on their current food systems and food security initiatives, this project’s potential impact on youth, and their overall vision for food security for their communities.

For International Youth Day this August 12, we're focusing on youth, who through connecting on the land, are investing in their health, their futures, and the future of the environment.

Skills development also plays a role in enhancing youth self-esteem, confidence, and is a means of self-expression, which nourishes their whole being. For World Youth Skills Day on July 15th, learn how these important life-changing skills are enhancing one's ability to to advance themselves positively and safely.
