Some gifts grow long after they’re given. Sometimes they start as a shared lesson in a garden, a moment in the kitchen, or the patient hands of a parent teaching their child.
For many families around the world, the values passed from one generation to the next – care, resilience, creativity, and connection to the land – are just as meaningful as any material inheritance. These quiet exchanges remind us that a legacy gift is not only what we leave behind, but what we nurture during our lifetime.
That spirit of legacy is alive in communities like Alpacoma in Bolivia, families come together to sell produce grown in their own backyards at the My Little Entrepreneur Fair. With support from Kinvia’s supporters and our local partner SCSJ, the fair is helping families build food security, earn income, and pass down knowledge to their children.
At the monthly My Little Entrepreneur Fair, children help harvest and prepare vegetables they’ve grown at home – learning responsibility, confidence, and pride along the way. As one mother, Eva, shared:

My children helped me dig, plant and water the plants, and take them out to sell
For her family, the garden is more than a food source – it’s a place where values are rooted in practice.
Across the participating households, parents are noticing the change. Families are eating more vegetables, cooking more nutritious meals, and sharing food and knowledge with neighbours. As Flora says:

[...] we have been eating more vegetables and preparing more soups. We use what we produce to make salads and eat more vegetables
Legacy Giving That Outlives Us
This November, during Make a Will Month, we’re reflecting on what it means to leave something behind – not just for today, but for tomorrow.
Leaving a gift in your Will is one way of planting seeds that will continue to flourish long into the future.
At Kinvia, legacy giving sustains long-term, sustainable community programs in Bolivia, Uganda, Ethiopia, Ghana, and across Indigenous communities in Canada – programs that help families build the skills, knowledge, and systems to nourish the next generation.
Including Kinvia in your Will is simple, and every gift – no matter the size – can make a lasting difference. By planning a legacy gift, you help ensure families and communities continue to thrive for generations.
If you’re considering this type of planned giving, our team is here to guide you through the process and answer any questions. Your legacy can reflect the values you hold dear and support programs that empower families, strengthen communities, and nurture future generations.
Because, just like a garden, legacy is something we grow over time, nurtured by care, strengthened by community, and carried forward by the generations who benefit from it.
